Detail: “After Leo Tolstoy” is a poetry show and performance art piece by spoken word poet Caroline Rothstein. The show is the culmination of Rothstein’s newest work, in which she seeks to test the boundaries of spoken word and traditional slam poetry. Integrating poetry, monologues, excerpts from email correspondences, audio recordings, and audience interaction, “After Leo Tolstoy” is a shared experience between artist and audience, exploring the relationship of writing to performance, art, and activism. She is honored and excited to debut this performance at the Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe, along with by a special guest, Phillip Bergmann, baritone.
